A few years ago, he wowed the Ruhrfestspiel audience with “Nautilus”, and now the New Zealand mime Trygve Wakenshaw is bringing his latest creation to the Festival Tent. Using solely gestures, facial expressions, and the fascinating agility of his body, Wakenshaw transforms the empty stage into a wide variety of settings: sometimes a living room, sometimes a nightclub, even a whole magician’s show conjured out of an (imaginary) hat. Including rabbits. Hilarious, touching, playful, and Dadaist, he tells of the “little things in life”. But everything seemingly banal becomes a spectacle here, every detail becomes slapstick madness, and the traditional art of pantomime is brought to the twenty-first century!
